À l’occasion de l’exposition Mamlouks 1250-1517, qui envisage le sultanat mamlouk dans une perspective civilisationnelle et trans-régionale, cette conférence se concentre particulièrement sur des questions d’histoire de l’art. Elle rassemble les contributions de spécialistes de la période, qui explorent des questions d’attribution et d’évolution autour de différentes techniques et types de production : art du métal, verre émaillé, soieries, céramique, ivoire. Elle se conclura avec une présentation exceptionnelle du patrimoine architectural mamlouk de Gaza et des destructions qu’il a récemment subi.
On the occasion of the Mamlouks 1250-1517 exhibition, which looks at the Mamlouk sultanate from a civilisational and trans-regional perspective, this conference focuses particularly on questions of art history. It brings together contributions from specialists of the period, who explore questions of attribution and evolution around different techniques and types of production: metal art, enamelled glass, silks, ceramics, ivory. It will conclude with an exceptional presentation of Gaza's Mamluk architectural heritage and the destruction it has recently suffered.
